WHO ARE WE

VALHALLA RESCUE is a canine rescue organization located in the shadow of Mount Rainier. We are comprised of a network of local foster homes where rescues live in home-style environments with people knowledgeable in breed specific traits, general animal behavior, health and nutrition.

We vaccinate, spay/neuter and micro-chip all our rescues as well as provide basic health exams including de-worming and flea treatments. We also assess our rescues for general temperament and behavior and start basic training when applicable, including leash experience and familiarity with crating to ensure your new family companion gets a head start to becoming a Canine Good Citizen.

For Humans, we provide education, advice, puppy classes and "Meet a Breed" events to help educate those considering pet adoption or for those who may be considering surrendering their companion due to lack of training.
We also arrange social events for people looking for opportunities for their family companions to interact in a safe environment with other dogs and People.

REHOMING SERVICES

It is sad when you must consider alternative living arrangements for your furry family member, but at times we understand you have no alternative. When that happens it is always preferred and better for your pet to find a new home WITHOUT the trauma, (or worse), of entering a public shelter environment.
Also, without proper experience many owners accidently rehome their pets to people who may not provide your pet the life you expected or that they claimed.
This service helps reduce the chance that your pet will end up in a situation it does not deserve. Our adoption screening process is thourogh and complete. All adopters are required to give several references, including veterinary, undergo home inspections and sign contracts insuring the future of your pet. We maintain contact with all our adoptive families through our events and online message groups.
We work intensively to match family and pet to ensure their next home will be their forever home.

    Our rehoming services include:
  • Listing your pet on petfinder.com and through other rescue resources.
  • Assess your pets behavior and home requirements as well as help with medical services needed for adoption, such as altering, micro-chipping & vaccines.
  • Process all applications , conduct interviews and home checks with potential adopters & facilitate transportation to new FOREVER HOMES. Please note that all our adoptions are "closed adoptions" and we ensure that all privacy issues are maintained. Unless agreed by BOTH parties, personal information about previous or future animal placement will NOT be exchanged. All information is run through us and kept confidential by us.

    ADOPTING A FRIEND

    Our adoption fees vary per rescue and should be listed in the pets description. Our fees include an overall health exam, all vaccines, spaying/neutering, flea treatment and microchip registration.

    OUR ADOPTION PROCESS

    We require an application prior to meeting any pet.
    Since our rescues are in home environments. all visits are by appointment only.
    All applicants must be willing to provide references and agree to a home check prior to adoption.
    A fenced yard is generally required for all our rescues, but occasionally a pet will be allowed to be adopted to homes with alternate means of control and safety. Please read ALL pet information carefully for that animals particular adoption requirements.
    We are a 100% volunteer operation and most work full-time while others are attending to the needs or our rescues currently awaiting adoption. We process all applications as quickly as possible.
    Please be patient and understanding as we respond to dozens of emails daily and try to get to them as fast as we can. We will generally respond to all emails within 2 business days, but it may be longer during holidays or during "heavy" times of year.
